There are a lot of good baseball players. Jose Altuve is one of the few great ones.
During the 2017 season, in just his seventh MLB season, the native of Venezuela, batted .346, stole 32 bases, and bashed 24 HRs. Those numbers were good enough to vault Altuve into the MVP race, and to lead the Houston Astros to the 2017 World Series title. Altuve, though, is much more than the sum of those numbers. The second baseman has overcome doubts about his size and skills. In doing so, he has inspired a generation of overlooked kids to believe in themselves. If that's not enough, Altuve is one of the most caring and patient players in the Majors, as is evident by the way he treats fans and teammates. When you combine all of that—the sweet swing and persona—you get the perfect Punk & Poet. Welcome to the team, Jose.
